Susan Adams-Messmer

Have you ever noticed how different you feel on a busy city street as opposed to a quiet country road?  Environment plays a crucial part to our disposition.

Susan Adams-Messmer is skilled in the art of creating rooms to reflect your desired mood.  Whether it is a library that provides a restful place to read or study, a bedroom where space is the issue, or a family room that longs to be the welcoming place in your home, Susan uses her talents and creativity to find solutions for the most discriminating taste.

Susan is a graduate of Heritage School of interior design, where she studied to advance her skills on color dynamics, pattern blending and design principles used to create rooms that are pleasing to the eye, while functioning well in the family environment.

In April 1987, Susan decided to merge her love for antiques and American folk-art.  She started her first retail business, “Country Pleasures” antique and folk-art show in Tigard, Oregon.  This bi-annual show and sale was the favorite of many selective collectors.  Buyers traveled from as far away as Alaska, Arizona and California to purchase hard to find antiques and handcrafted items.  Before long, the lines to get into the show stretched around the building, and the showroom was wall to wall shoppers!

In 1993, Susan added another show to her business, this time in Eugene, Oregon.  “Country Friends” was the sister show to “Country Pleasures”.  Both shows were well received and provided an outlet for Susan’s creative bent

Susan loves being the mother of three boys!  Widowed at the age of 40, she found happiness again when friends introduced her to Rob Messmer!

The executive director of the Doernbecher Children’s Hospital foundation noticed Susan’s friendly manner and determination to see a task to completion. She has served as President of the Friends of Doernbecher Board, and is still an active member in good standing!

Susan believes that a person’s home should be their refuge!  Her philosophy concerning room design is to create an environment that pleases her client, in comfort, function and in mood.
